Who we are looking for

 We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Counsel to join our team. This ongoing, full-time position comes with a generous salary of $111,857 to $127,436 p.a. plus superannuation.

As our General Counsel you'll be responsible for supporting a full spectrum of legal and compliance services to support our operations.

We're looking for someone to offer comprehensive legal support and advice, encompassing legal advisory services, land and agreements, contract development, and legislative compliance.

 

Job Description

 

What you'll be doing

On a day-to-day basis, you'll:

  • Provide legal advice and oversight on the development, negotiation and implementation of contracts and other legal agreements.
  • Provide expert legal advice to our business, including executive and the Board.
  • Oversee use of the Victorian Government Legal Services Panel and manage reporting requirements.
  • Effectively manage our property portfolio, including freehold and leasehold properties.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and maintain land leases, licenses, and agreements.
  • Offer legal guidance on contract development and negotiation.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

 

What you’ll bring 

You're an exceptional communicator and you have extensive experience providing advice to employees at all levels, preparing and presenting reports, briefs and submissions, and liaising with experts to ensure compliance. You love collaborating with people across an organisation, sharing information and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and external networks.

  • A law degree, preferably with admission to legal practice in Victoria.
  • Preferred relevant in-house general counsel experience, ideally within the public sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, motivating and developing teams.
